Projects

If you remember, in the last post, I promised an news flash on the latest project at our house. And here is the delivery, if a bit later than some of you thought. :P The latest project is our deck.

Before
Before
We already had a deck, but it was quite literally becoming a hazard. The floorboards were getting... holey! :D

Also, that side of the house faces the west, which means the afternoon sun hits the brick there for hours. In the summer time, the dining room and kitchen (which are on that side) get several degrees hotter in the afternoon than the rest of the house because of the sun on that side and the deck has no roof to shield the house.

Hence the project.
We needed to replace the floorboards anyway, so while we were tearing things apart, we decided to do it right and put a roof on too.

Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of the process. But here goes.

Dad putting the pickets on

All of this happened over several weeks because the guys worked on it when they didn't have something else they were supposed to be doing. But that's the joys of having contractors as family! You can get them to work on your house for free! You just have to buy materials... :D

Finished with pickets

All that is left to do is stain it and build the furniture. And yes, I said build the furniture. We have big plans for this deck and it's going to look so pretty when it's done!
I'm so excited!! :D

Okay, enough of that. I think I'm going to attempt doing three posts today. Not promising anything but I'm going to try. So much has happened since the last post. Until next time! ...which is literally like....a few minutes.... :P

Farm Life

Welcome to Forgy's Dairy, y'all!
So this past weekend we have been in Pennsylvania. I was staying with Aunt Betty while Mom and Dad and Daniel were at Pap Byler's.
Anyway, I thought I'd take some pictures of the farm and share. I'll tell you one thing: those Jersey calves are adorable.

Peter Rabbit hiding in the corn.

{Hello!}
{You look funny!}

The calf above on the right is a Jersey, the brown and white one is a Gernsey, and the black and white ones are Holsteins. Random cow info, I know. :P

This little baby is only a few weeks old, I believe.

My cousin's daughter Elizabeth.

This is one of my favorite pictures, I think. This is Levi. He is so hard to get a good picture of, but he's so adorable!

Well, that's the farm!
Hopefully, I will soon be giving a news flash on the most recent project at our house. And no, I'm not telling you what it is until I do the post. :P
Stay tuned!!

Announcement

You guessed it! Nathan and Jacquelyn got engaged!
Most of you probably knew already, but I thought you might like some pictures.
The wedding is October 28th.

This was taken at the Sweetheart Banquet

The one above and these two were taken while they were still dating.

These two are so cute together!

For those of you who don't know, our church (Lighthouse) and Calvary have started our own camp at a facility about an hour from us. Last year was our first year to try it and we did it for three days. This year is all week (August 7-11), and we're busy getting ready for that. So excited!!!

Picking up the Torch

It's been a long time, y'all! Hannah has been really busy with nursing school, so I decided to take up the torch and continue posting in her place. And what could come first but the beautiful little girl added to our family this past Thanksgiving?!
Of course I'm not biased. She's just super cute! I'll even prove it.
This was her Easter picture

Now don't you even try to tell me she isn't super cute. See! I'm not biased! :P
So I realize that was a short post, but I'm just getting started people! First time ever, so give me some slack here. :D Stay tuned!

Holiday Happenings

I hope you all have been enjoying the season's preparations as Christmas is just ahead! The weather has been teasing us this December, and it looks like Christmas will be warm and certainly not white this year. We've had a few frosts, but the thermometer climbs back up to unseasonable temperatures!

We finished out our shopping and wrapping this week and made our Gingerbread Houses last evening along with Jacquelyn, Melinda, Andrew, and Amelia.

Mom ended up with an extra little house once all the pieces were cut, and so, for probably the first time in the (almost) twenty years we've been doing gingerbread houses, Mom and Dad put one together!

In classic fashion, Daniel does his best to photobomb =P

(the houses from left to right): Mom & Dad's, Melinda & Andrew's, Bethany's (in back), Daniel's (in front), Hannah's, and Nathan & Jacquelyn's

Since we were all together, we also celebrated Bethany's 17th birthday (which is actually the 22nd). Hard to believe the little sister is turning seventeen!!

 And some random pictures:

Adorable little Mia is growing and attracting everyone's attention! This child may never learn to walk. ;)

And one other little piece of news.... Daniel shot his first deer, an 8-point buck!

Merry Christmas, y'all!
