Making Applesauce

Melinda and Andrew had brought us a couple bushels of apples when they came, so we made applesauce today. We canned about 26 quart.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all had as wonderful a day as we did! The Francis' (from our church) came over and we played volleyball. We played several good, competitive games! (Any game with a Byler is competitive! Lol!)

Lunch was delicious! We had turkey, of course, with the usual sides and, for dessert - apple pie, sweet potato pie, and vanilla pie! Yuuuuummy!!

Then we took some pics of all of us together

Nate was acting crazy, but what else is new..... =)

And we had our own little concert!

We all have soooo much to be thankful for!

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
 - Psalm 107:1
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. - Psalm 118:1
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
 - Psalm 118:29
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
- Psalm 136:1-3
O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.
 - Psalm 136:26

If God said to give thanks that many times, I think it means that He really wants us to give thanks!

Taffy, anybody?

It's been a long, long time since we have pulled taffy, like ten years. Mom was very nervous about cooking it cause it has to be just right. But it turned out pretty good. And it is soooooo yummy! Andrew and Melinda were also here to help.
The batter is cooked for a long time, then put in pans to harden. Then it's taken out and pulled by hand. The pulling is really hard to explain (and hard to do!). You just have to see it. (Sorry some of the pics are a little blury... our camara doesn't take good pics when the people are moving!)

Messy!!!

Once the taffy turns white and is no longer very sticky, we cut it into strips.

The strips are then cut into little pieces.

Yum, Yum!

The end result... delicious (and fattening) candy!

Six

Daniel's sixth birthday was yesterday. And of all things, he picked pizza pockets for his birthday meal! (Usually we choose stromboli, bean-soup-and-apple-pie, or something like that). Crazy kid! Anyway, Mom was happy that she didn't have to make anything. We made cupcakes and had vanilla ice cream - Daniel's favorite kind. He was very excited about it all!

Enjoying Fall Weather

Sorry it has been soooooo long since I've posted anything on here. I could say we have been too busy, but I won't because I know some of you don't accept "excuses", (Olivia)! Lol!!
Wednesday Mom took us to the park in Rolesville. It was warm and even a little humid. Seems as if the weather can't make up its mind. We'll get cold days then warm ones. But, hey, it beats the heat of summer!
