A Day in the Life of a Chicken Farmer

Every morning before breakfast, Daniel goes out to feed the chickens, check/refill their water, gather any eggs (which, unfortunately, there haven't been very many of) and let the chickens out into the fenced-in area so they can eat the grass - it cuts down on feed. Every evening at dark he does the same thing, this time making sure they are all in the coup (usually they go in themselves... we keep a light on in there till later at night).
The first three we had Daniel named Glory, Picky, and Horny. (Don't you love his creativity?!) But the rest are completely white and hard to tell apart, so they don't have names.

Daniel's Done Waiting

Well, the chicken coop is finally finished and has three inhabitants! We will be getting more chickens soon. Daniel was very excited about it all! When he found out we were going to get chickens, he said, "Yes! This is what I've been waiting for!" He has enjoyed helping Dad make the coop.

Dad took Daniel to go get the feed

Catch the chicken!
We got three chickens from a family in our church....

Gotcha!

We enjoyed playing with our friends while we were there.... (They have an awesome swing! It looks a little precarious, but it is fun!)

The chickens are now safe and sound in their new home,
under Daniel's watchful eye! =)

Winter??

Though its only January, it feels like spring! It's beautiful! (Yes, we do like the cold winters, but only as long as it comes with snow! If it's not going to snow, why should it be cold?) We were glad it was a Saturday, and greatly enjoyed the warm weather!

Yes, that thermometer does say 70 degrees!

Not Spoiled, Just Loved!

We have greatly enjoyed our stay here at Gram and Pap Maurer's. Mom says we're getting spoiled, but we tell her that we're just loved! =) We get way too many sweets and watch way too many movies, mostly westerns! (But I'm not complaining!)  =)
Monday evening Gram and Pap took us all bowling. We all had a lot of fun! It was little Andrew's first time ever to bowl, and he loved it! Every time his ball hit the pins he would clap his hands and say, "Yay!" He was quite amusing! Gram, Beth, Daniel, and Andrew had a lane with bumpers, and Pap, Uncle Tim, Aunt Jane, Mom, and I had a lane without.

Mom accidentally went when it was Pap's turn.... we enjoyed teasing her, and Aunt Jane "had to explain to her big sister" how bowling was supposed to work! =)

Sometimes things went great....

And sometimes not so great! (Don't you love the face?)

Tuesday was shopping day! Pap and Uncle Tim were kind enough to keep the two little boys for us. (And they were still in one piece when we got back!) lol

We played many games, Dutch Blitz probably being the favorite! (And I just realized that I didn't get a pic of us playing that! Oh, well!)

Gram is the best chiropractor in PA! (Considering the fact that she doesn't charge!)  =)

The boys loved to be outside even though it was cold and there was NO SNOW! =( (sniff, sniff)

Pap's hat was a little too big for Andrew....

Pap and Daniel walked up the hill to look for deer and coyote tracks and signs

We have to leave tomorrow, but we can't wait till we can come back!
